Nathan and Ben must decide what is right in a largely lawless world-and the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. An easy enough job-but Emmogene has been implanted with something else, something much more important. Krieg must be killed, Emmogene captured and returned to the proper authorities. Now, Nathan Foster and his 14-year-old nephew Ben are tasked with bringing the pair to justice. That is, until she was broken out by her obsessive ex-lover, Anthony Krieg, a former commando for the Visitors’ forces, physically enhanced but mentally unstable. Until recently, she was serving a prison sentence for aiding and abetting the enemy. She carries within her body a semi-functional alien device that allows her to control other people. The task of hunting down these former alien collaborators and bringing them to justice falls to federal recovery agents like Nathan Foster.Įmmogene Anderson was taken to the Visitors as a teenager and experimented upon by the alien invaders. After a devastating war, the Visitors were driven back to Mars, leaving their willing human collaborators behind. But humanity did not give up its home without a fight. While they claimed to bring peace and prosperity, their true goal was the total subjugation of humankind. The flaws in this one aren't that great and it definitely deserves to be bought and listened to (or read).A STAND-ALONE NOVEL BY DRAGON AWARD NOMINEE MIKE KUPARIĭecades ago, the Visitors descended on Earth. This novel probably would have been just right at the same length as Her Brother's Keeper (where all the protagonists got the proper amount of attention to development, including the side characters like Cecil's friend), but instead it's 3 hours shorter. There were parts where content felt like it was missing. Basically, it felt like this novel had material chopped out. ![]() While there's an excellent amount of exposition of the the new XO and he's a very well developed character, I wish more had been spent on the two aforementioned characters as well. There was little character growth of Annabelle (who, as a teenager needs character growth) or of the junior engineer she convinces to comes along. The journey to Ithaca is chronicled too little. My only complaint is that it feels too short. All the elements that made the first book good are back and Mike's writing is improved as well (as it should be). But Catherine has made a promise, and the freedom of a world hangs in the balance. The Privateer Andromeda series continues! Now, they'll have to navigate assassination attempts, warring factions, and civil unrest. Blackwood and her crew have handled dangerous cargo and dicey situations before. The Privateer: Enter privateer Captain Catherine Blackwood and her ship, the Andromeda. ![]() They have the means to resist the Combine. ![]() The Natives: The saurians have held themselves aloof from galactic politics for eons in order to regain the strength to exact their revenge on an ancient foe. And the place to start is with the mysterious aliens who also inhabit Ithaca. Now she must reclaim her father's legacy of leadership. The Daughter: Adisa Masozi never knew her father, but was taught he was a monster. The Evil Empire: The Orlov Combine intends to swallow Ithaca in the same way they have devoured so many worlds, creating a "company planet" where the residents are litle beter than slaves. Zander Krycek made a choice that saved his world of Ithaca, but doomed his reputation and banished him to a planet far, far away. The Exiled Leader: He was known as the Butcher of Jonasport.
